Many people are looking to tie the knot this summer amidst the warm weather, but there are a few key destinations that can truly make one's big day special. Recently, the Orlando Sentinel named locations that are expected to be wedding destination hotspots in 2011.
At the top of the list were the Florida Keys. This collection of islands at the southern tip of the state is known for its exotic wildlife and expansive white sandy beaches. Orlando also made it onto the list, known for Disney World and its fairytale setting for weddings.
Whether you want to visit the Keys for your honeymoon or your wedding, there are a number of activities worth engaging in during your stay. In the Key Largo area, consider visiting the Caribbean Shipwreck Museum and Research Institute. This facility has a number of artifacts received from shipwrecks that have occurred in the region over time.
The John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park is also located in the Keys, which is the first underwater state park to offer visitors an up-close glimpse at sea life. The park also admits campers with tents and trailers who want to plan an extended stay.
Don't forget to stop and watch the sun set over the Keys to top off a romantic trip to this exotic Floridian destination.
