It looks like there will be another princess in the royal family, as Prince William of Wales and his girlfriend, Kate Middleton, have officially announced their engagement.

News outlets all over the world have been speculating for years over when the pair, who have been seeing each other for eight years, would tie the knot. Rumors stirred once again after the couple, who are not often photographed together, appeared side-by-side at a mutual friend's wedding recently.

In an official statement from his father, Prince Charles states that "the wedding will take place in the spring or summer of 2011 in London," according to People. The statement also noted that Wills popped the question while the two were on holiday in Kenya last month.

According to photos obtained by The Sun, Middleton now wears the blue sapphire and diamond ring that once belonged to Lady Diana.

Next year is an excellent time for Prince William to get married, as 2011 also brings another royal occasion with Queen Elizabeth's 85th birthday.

While details of the wedding's whereabouts have yet to be released, we can speculate that the big day may take place at St. Paul's Cathedral, where Prince Charles wed Princess Diana in 1981.
