Considered Maine's premiere food and wine experience, the Harvest on the Harbor is held at the end of October and offers delicious dishes from local chefs, using fresh ingredients from nearby markets and fishermen.
Using nothing but the most pure and sustainable ingredients, chefs and vintners from across the state gather in Portland, Maine, at the Oceanside Pavilion to share their craft with other chefs, foodies and guests. Guests can sample from distinguished restaurants and caterers, Maine culinary vendors, local merchants, breweries and wineries, and coffee and candy shops.
Separated by specialty, guests can check out savory bites at the Grilling Stage, indulge in decadence at the Viking Sweet Stage or just relax and soak up the live musical performances.
Melodious tunes can be heard by bluegrass, jazz, rock and country musicians while dining on the available treats.
While in Portland, couples should get lost in the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, known for being the largest botanical garden in New England. There are guided tours, but visitors should feel free to wander the grounds, enjoying the changing leaves and lush foliage. There are also educational activities that teach participants about various gardening techniques and living a sustainable life.
Also in October, the Portland, Maine, film festival will be sure to entertain the honeymooners looking to relax for a bit on their trip. The festival draws filmmakers from the area as well as across seas. The diverse film selection will feature pieces by independent filmmakers and emerging cinema artists. After the films, expert panelists from the industry will hold panel discussions to breakdown the pieces and share ideas and insights.
