You won't find turkey as we know it at the Harvest Dinner with the Pilgrims at Plimoth Plantation.
At Plimoth Plantation in Plymouth, Massachusetts, visitors can get an even closer look at what the first Thanksgiving was like - they can participate in a traditional dinner like the one Pilgrims feasted on in 1627. On Saturdays and Sundays in October and November - and the Wednesday and Friday of Thanksgiving week - Harvest Dinner with the Pilgrims diners will be seeped in tradition, with the food, prayers, songs and even table manners.

After opening with ciderkin - a water/cider mix - and bread and butter, diners will feast on a two-course meal. Dishes include “sallet,” sweet pudding of native corn, mussels “seeth’d” with parsley and beer, and a fricassee of fish. Reservations for the dinner are required.

Before or after dinner, visitors to Plimoth Plantation can explore the full-scale replica of the Mayflower. The Mayflower II was built in England and sailed to Massachusetts in 1957. The nearby Nye Barn shows off historical breeds of animals like goats, sheep and pigs.

Plimoth Plantation lives up to Plymouth’s nickname of America’s Hometown with its historic homes, museums and plantations.
